Meet Some of Our Associates-All Associates are Crisis Prevention Intervention certified and are able to implement PECS:

Lisa Israel, RN, MADS, BCBA
Clinical Director
Lisa has been working with individuals with disabilities and their families for over 20 years. She is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst in addition to Registered Nurse and holds a Masters Degree in Disability Studies from Brock University with a specialty in Applied Behaviour Analysis and a Masters Certificate in Autism and is a Rehabilitation Specialist. She is dedicated to her work as a Behaviour Analyst and Clinical Supervisor at Applied Behavioural Interventions. In addition, Lisa is the Clinical Director of the Schwartz/Reisman Centre overseeing the Inclusion Program, which offers community-based programs for children taught using a behavioural approach. Lisa has developed an ABA parent training manual and curriculum for parents of children with disabilities in addition to providing consultation on school advocacy, human rights for persons with disabilities, and running social skills groups for children with PDD. Lisa is a committed advocate for children with disabilities and their families. Additionally, Lisa holds Level 1 certification in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT).

Ronit Rosenblum, M. Ed, BCBA, CDA
Senior Clinician
Ronit is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst who has over 10 years experience working with children with autism. She completed her Masters Certificate in Autism and Related Disabilities, and in Applied Behaviour Analysis. In 2008 she received a Graduate Certificate in the Communicative Disorders Assistants Program from Durham College, where she maintained the Dean's List throughout the duration of the program. In 2011 she received a Masters degree in Education where she specialized in Special Education. Since 2003, Ronit has had extensive training in the area of autism and related disabilities and currently enjoys her position as a Senior Clinician at Applied Behavioural Interventions where she creates, implements and oversees programming and ongoing treatment integrity. Her background and experience working with individuals with ASD allows her to share her expertise by training mediators in basic principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to enhance their overall understanding of behaviour interventions and adherence to behavioural recommendations. Ronit’s research is in parental adherence to behavioural recommendations and collaboratively, alongside parents and paraprofessionals, creates individualized training and treatment packages for individuals who wish to teach their children and students communication and social skills using a behavioural approach. In addition, she also holds a Level 1 Certificate in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT).

Kristina Mortley ECE, Registered, M. Ed
Senior Lead Instructor Therapist/Senior Therapist
Kristina holds a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: The Inclusive Classroom (SPED) as well as being registered as an Early Childhood Educator and Special Needs Resource Teacher. In addition, Kristina holds a Graduate Certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science from Seneca College and she has also completed her Bachelors Degree in Child Development. Kristina is an expert in managing our teams, liaising with the school boards and other community agencies as well as working as a Senior Lead Instructor Therapist. She also teaches social skills and facilitates parent training with a focus on behaviour management and implementation of parenting strategies. Kristina has been an associate with ABI for over 9 years.

Sarah Schopp, B.A., MADS
Senior Lead Instructor Therapist
Sarah has a Masters degree in Disability Studies from Brock University with a specialization in Applied Behaviour Analysis. Sarah's research has focused on behaviour, parenting strategies, and parental self-efficacy in children that have developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. For the past ten years, she has provided individual and group Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) in schools, homes and community based settings. Currently, Sarah acts as a Senior Lead Therapist at Applied Behvioural Interventions where she develops curriculum, facilitates parent training, school consultation and social skills groups for a range of children on the autism spectrum and with various exceptionalities. She is devoted to helping families advocate for their children at school and in the community. Sarah is working towards becoming a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst.

Maryam Omidi, B.A. Hons. (Psych)
Senior Lead Instructor Therapist
Maryam has been an associate at Applied Behavioural Interventions for over 9 years and enjoys the position of Senior Lead Therapist. Her current focus is on assessment, program design, mentoring new staff, parent training and academic tutoring. She has completed her Honours Bachelors degree in Psychology from York University and a Graduate Certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science from Seneca College. Maryam's passion for working with people with exceptionalities began when she volunteered with the Special Olympics swim club. She helped coach teens and adults with disabilities for over 5 years. She is also a Certified Advanced Lifeguard and Instructor and lead the Inclusion Swim and Social Skills for Early Learners Programs at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre. Maryam is fluent in Picture Exchange Communication Systems (Bondy and Frost), and is certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Standard First Aid and CPR "C". She also holds the Level 1 Certificate in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT).

Lauren Backman
Lead Therapist
Lauren holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education and has been an associate with ABI for over 7 years. She has established herself as a valued member of the ABI team through her dedication to continuing education and her knack for developing creative, individualized materials for our students. Lauren heads ABI’s Material Section in addition to working directly with our students in the capacity of Lead Instructor Therapist, providing ABA/IBI, liaising with schools and parents. Lauren is well trained in PECS and Proloquo on the iPad and can facilitate training and use of these augmented communication systems.

Karina Klier-Bogomolsky
Instructor Therapist
Karina holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science from Seneca College, graduating with high honors. Karina is certified in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention -Integrating Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports and Standard First Aid, and CPR “C”. Karina holds the Level 1 Certificate in Pivotal Response Treatment. Karina has more than 6 years experience as an Instructor Therapist providing individual and group-based applied behaviour analysis and intensive behavioural intervention in schools, homes and community-based settings. In addition, Karina has been working in school settings for the last 4 years, assisting and supporting children in the school environment and acting as a liaison with schools and parents. Karina acts as the Program Manager for the Inclusion Program at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre, a program designed for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Karina’s area of focus is serving the whole family by using a holistic philosophy. Prior to becoming an associate at Applied Behavioural Interventions, Karina has 5 years of experience working as an Enrichment Program Coordinator in a school setting. Karina continues to frequently attend conferences and workshops for further professional development.

Nicky Praseuth
Lead Therapist
Nicky Praseuth holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education, a degree in Child Development, and is Hanen Training Certified. She currently works directly with our students providing ABA/IBI services in homes, schools and the community. Her studies in Child Development focused on the development of typical and developmentally delayed children from birth to adolescence. She has also successfully completed an action research dissertation on how best to support families with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. Nicky is fluent in augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals in need of language support: such as the picture exchange communication system (PECS) and Proloquo2go. She has over 8 years of hands-on work experience, working with a range of children with challenging behaviours implementing behaviour and self-management plans. Nicky is Level 1 Certified in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), CPI Trained, and CPR Certified. Nicky also continues to frequently attend conferences and workshops for further professional development and has been an associate of ABI for over 4 years.

Pritha Chowdhury
Lead Therapist
Pritha Chowdhury has been an associate with Applied Behaviour Interventions for 4 years, and worked as an Instructor Therapist for 6 years in total. She holds a Masters of Professional Education in Special and Inclusive Education specializing in ABA at the University of Western Ontario. Pritha is currently pursuing the completion of supervision hours for BCBA certification, aiming to complete by the fall of 2016. In 2010 she graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Education, and is a member of good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. Pritha has experience with PECS, Proloquo2go, developing behaviour management plans, and adapting behavioural strategies to address the needs of the children she works with. Pritha also has her Level 1 Certification in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT). She organizes and conducts bi-monthly clinics on topics of applied behaviour analysis for the associates at ABI to encourage ongoing professional development.

Robyn McCrae
Instructor Therapist
Robyn holds a Master’s degree in Education from Medaille College, where she focused on parental advocacy and involvement for children with autism in the school system. Robyn also has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from York University. Robyn has been an associate of Applied Behavioural Interventions for over 13 years providing applied behaviour analysis in schools, homes and community-based settings to early, intermediate and advanced learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Over her 13 years as an Instructor Therapist, Robyn has gained extensive expertise in developing individualized programs based on the learners needs. She has liaised with schools and parents, while providing behavioural and social facilitation in schools and summer camp settings, as well as supporting classroom teachers and education assistants with behaviour modification strategies. Robyn is fluent in Picture Exchange Communication Systems (Bondy and Frost), The DynaVox, and Proloquo2Go for the iPad. She is certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and certified in First Aid/CPR. She also has extensive experience using the Foxx and Azrin toilet training protocol. Robyn is working towards becoming a Board Certified Behavioural Analyst.

Deidre Meskis
Instructor Therapist
Deidre graduated from Mohawk College in 1996 with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Soon after, she started working privately with children on the spectrum utilizing ABA. In 2001 she was trained through the government of Ontario’s pilot project for children on the spectrum in Intensive Behavioural Therapy, working for the Niagara Regional Autism Initiative. She is proficient in behaviour management, facilitating social skills in the natural environment as well as PECS and other augmentative communication systems. Deidre has been an Associate since 2012, she is very passionate about her work and furthering her education in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis.

Diana Talis
Instructor Therapist
Diana has over 5 years experience working with children diagnosed with autism. She graduated from George Brown College in 2007. After graduating, Diana went to work at Asaf Harofe Hospital in Israel, at the Alotaf Center, specializing in working with children diagnosed with autism. Diana retuned to Toronto in 2008, and began working at Shining Through Centre. In 2011, Diana became an associate at Applied Behavioural Interventions, and is enjoying her work as an Instructor Therapist. In addition, Diana is trained in Pivotal Response Training (P.R.T.), holding a Level 1 certificate.

Voula Georgiou
Instructor Therapist
Voula has been an associate with Applied Behavioural Interventions for over two years and is currently working directly with students providing ABA/IBI in homes and schools. Voula also participates in a weekly social skills class where she plans and implements weekly visual art activities using the principles of ABA for our students. Voula holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science from Seneca College. Prior to becoming an associate at ABI, Voula was employed in the childcare field where she worked with a range of children. Voula is trained in First Aid/CPR, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, managing behavioural challenges as well as holding her Level 1 Certificate in Privotal Response Treatment (PRT). She is currently working towards becoming a Board Certified Assistant Behavioural Analyst.

Anastasiya Potapovych
Lead Therapist
Anastasiya Potapovych holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree, majoring both in Mental Health and Sociology from University of Toronto. Anastasiya is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Applied Disability Studies at Brock University with a specialization in Applied Behaviour Analysis. She is also pursuing her BCBA certification. Anastasiya is honing her skills providing leadership on her teams by acting as a Lead Therapist on several of them, while working with our students providing ABA/IBI services in the home, school and in the community environment. She is proficient in augmentative communication devices such as Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) and Proloquo2go. Anastasiya is Level 1 Certified in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and has volunteered with the Inclusion Services at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre, where she facilitated a social skills group. Anastasiya is certified in nonviolent crisis intervention (CPI) as well as in Standard First Aid and CPR. Anastasiya is committed to continuing her professional development and has been an associate with ABI for 4 years.

Michelle Banks
Instructor Therapist
Michelle has been enjoying her association with ABI as an Instructor Therapist since 2012. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University and is currently working towards her Honours degree in Psychology. Michelle has been working with children that have been diagnosed with autism for over five years. She is proficient in PECS, Prologuo2Go and holds Level 1 certification in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT). Michelle plans to continue her education in graduate studies with an emphasis on child development.

Irene Ogorenko
Instructor Therapist
Irene has been in the ABI team for the past year, and immediately knew this was the career path she was meant for. Her passion for children with special needs started in high school, where she volunteered in a special education classroom for four years. She believes there is nothing more rewarding than being a part of a child's progress. Irene holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from York University and plans to pursue graduate education in the field of ABA in the near future. Irene attends continuing education workshops and seminars to ensure best practice in her therapy. Her experience includes implementing one-on-one therapy in the home, school, and community setting. Irene holds a Level 1 certificate in Pivotal Response Training (PRT), in addition, she is certified in Standard First Aid and CPR C, and is a member of the Ontario Association of Behaviour Analysis.

Ashley Cohen
Lead Instructor Therapist
Irene has been with ABI since 2013 and enjoys her position of an Instructor Therapist.

Her passion for children with special needs and mental health started in high school where she daily volunteered in a special education classroom for four years. She believes there is nothing more rewarding than being part of a child's progress. Her experience includes implementing individualized programs for students in the home, school, and community setting. Irene has experience with facilitating learning in the natural environment as well as with augmented communication systems such as the PECS and Proloque2go for the iPad. Irene earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology at York University. She attends continuing education workshops and seminars to ensure best practice in her therapy. Tatjana Popovic
Instructor Therapist
Tatjana developed her interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) while completing her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour at McMaster University. She studied how individuals with autism process emotions, cultivating a thorough understanding of the cognitive and perceptual characteristics of ASD. For the past year, Tatjana has honed her practical understanding of ASD through her dedicated work as an Instructor Therapist. Her professional interests include teaching functional communication verbally and through assisted communication methods, such as PECs and Proloquo2Go. She is committed to expanding her professional repertoire and values continuing education. Tatjana is also a passionate supporter of the autism community, volunteering as the coordinator of a social group for adults with autism.

April Abay-Abay
Instructor Therapist
April holds an Honours Bachelors Degree in Science, majoring specifically in Psychology and Linguistics, from the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). Over the past few years, she has worked with children, teenagers and adults with exceptionalities. During her years at UTM, April worked as an Exam Invigilator with the AccessAbility Resource Centre as well as a Support Worker for Community Living Mississauga. She is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Behavioural Science Technology at George Brown College and is enjoying her role as an Instructor Therapist here at ABI.

Carolyn Yiu
Instructor Therapist
Carolyn earned her Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from York University and in 2007 graduated from Deakin Unversity with a Graduate Diploma in Education. She is a registered teacher with OCT and has her AQ in Special Needs Part 1. Carolyn has taught children with special needs both overseas and in the GTA. She has experience with PECS and Proloquo2go. Carolyn plans to continue her education in graduate studies with an emphasis on children with special needs and child development.

Mythily Mudunuru
Instructor Therapist
Mythily holds Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Biology at University of Toronto and an advanced diploma in Behavioural Science Technology at George Brown College. She is a dedicated therapist with over 8 years of experience working with individuals with ASD, ADHD, FASD, ODD, Acquired Brain Injury in addressing behaviour management, healthy sexuality, emotional regulation, self-management, and unique learning difficulties in various community and home-based settings. Mythily possesses a keen interest and passion for utilizing her knowledge and experience in helping her clients lead the most functional, meaningful lives and developing healthy relationships with those around them. She is currently pursuing graduate studies in ABA and working towards becoming board certified.

Ashley Lecce
Instructor Therapist
Ashley holds an Honours Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the University of Guelphhumber, as well as a post graduate certificate in the Behaviour Science program from Humber College, specializing in Applied Behaviour Analysis & Positive Behaviour Supports. She holds a dual diagnosis certificate and is a Registered Behaviour Technician. She worked at Shining Through Centre with a variety of children with ASD in an intensive setting. She is proficient in augmentative communication devices such as PECS and Proloquo2go. Ashley is trained in First Aid/CPR, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, as well as holding her Level 1 Certificate in Privotal Response Treatment (PRT). She is enjoying her association with ABI as an Instructor Therapist, and is planning to pursue graduate education in the field of ABA.

Karen Yoffe
Instructor Therapist
Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts, Hons. Degree in Sociology, as well as a Social Service Worker Diploma. Karen's passion for working with people with special needs came from her co-op experience in high school where she assisted children that had Autism Spectrum Disorder. This inspired her to pursue an education and career that would allow her to build on this experience. After receiving her degrees, Karen has gained experience working with children, teens, adults, and seniors with various exceptionalities in clinical, school, and home settings. Karen is always building on her experience and education by attending workshops that help guide her in her field. She is certified in CPR and CPI and looks forward to pursuing further education in Applied Behavioural Analysis in the near future.
